Two people, including an Indian Army personnel, were killed while two others sustained serious injuries after an SUV crashed into a tree in Rajasthan in a tragic road accident. The incident occurred on a highway in the state, prompting an immediate rescue operation by local residents, police, and emergency services. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
According to police officials, the SUV was carrying four occupants when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle before it veered off the road and rammed into a roadside tree. The impact was severe, leaving the front portion of the vehicle completely mangled and trapping the passengers inside. Rescue teams used cutting equipment to extricate the victims from the wreckage.
Two occupants, including an Army officer, succumbed to their injuries either at the scene or shortly after being taken to hospital. The remaining two injured passengers were rushed to a nearby medical facility, where they are undergoing treatment. Doctors said both sustained multiple injuries and remain under close observation.
Police have identified the deceased Army personnel and informed the military authorities, who have initiated the necessary procedures. Senior Army officials expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured all possible assistance. The identity of the second deceased has also been confirmed, while the injured individuals continue to receive medical care.
Preliminary findings indicate that the accident may have been caused by high speed or loss of vehicle control, although investigators are also examining other possible factors such as road conditions, driver fatigue, or a mechanical failure. Forensic experts have inspected the accident site, and the damaged SUV has been seized for a detailed technical examination.
Investigators are collecting CCTV footage from nearby locations and recording statements from eyewitnesses to reconstruct the sequence of events. Traffic police have registered a case and said further action will depend on the outcome of the investigation. Officials have appealed to motorists to exercise caution while driving, particularly during late-night journeys on highways.
The accident has once again highlighted concerns about road safety in Rajasthan, where high-speed crashes continue to claim lives every year. Authorities have reiterated the importance of following speed limits, wearing seat belts, avoiding distracted driving, and ensuring vehicles are roadworthy before long-distance travel. Road safety experts say timely adherence to traffic rules remains the most effective way to reduce fatalities and serious injuries on Indian highways.
