A day after a big fire killed 15 people in Lucknows Aliganj area police caught four people. Stopped four government officials from working as they started a big probe into one of the citys worst recent fire disasters. The fire went through a three-storey building on June 22 trapping people inside and triggering a major rescue operation.
The people who were caught include the building owner and others who were supposed to take care of the property. Police have registered cases against six people and some other unknown persons under laws. Authorities say they caught them based on some evidence that shows they were not careful and might have broken safety rules.
Fire Turned Building Into Death Trap
According to officials the fire started in a building that had a coaching centre, library, a pet shop and other businesses. Thick smoke quickly filled the building blocking exits and trapping students and staff inside. People who saw it happen said it was very scary as several people tried to escape through windows while rescue teams worked to reach those trapped in floors.
Firefighters, police and emergency responders rushed to the scene. Did rescue operations for several hours. Authorities eventually found 15 bodies in the building while several injured people were taken to hospitals for treatment.
Officials Suspended Over Lapses
The Uttar Pradesh government has also stopped four officials from departments that deal with building rules, fire safety and inspections from working. The suspensions were ordered because there might have been some failures that contributed to the tragedy. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath told officials to find all the mistakes and make sure everyone is accountable.
Investigators are checking if the building followed fire safety rules and if any changes were made over the years without permission. Reports say that the structure had problems before regarding construction approvals and usage permissions.
SIT Formed to Investigate
To ensure a probe the Uttar Pradesh government has formed a two-member Special Investigation Team (SIT). The panel has to find the cause of the fire identify those responsible and submit a report within a week. Investigators from teams and the fire department have already started collecting evidence from the site.
Chief Minister Adityanath has stated that no one who is guilty will be spared and that strict action will follow once the investigation is completed. The state government has also announced help for the families of those who died and compensation for the injured.
Questions Over Safety Standards
The tragedy has again raised concerns about fire safety in commercial buildings across urban India. Experts say the incident shows the need for checks, emergency preparedness measures and stricter enforcement of building regulations.
As investigations continue grieving families await answers while authorities work to determine how a routine day, at a coaching centre turned into a disaster that killed 15 people and shocked the state. The fire and the death toll are very shocking. Everyone is trying to find out what went wrong. The building had people inside and it was very crowded. The fire department and police are working hard to find out what caused the fire.
