A sad thing happened on a road in Karnataka on Friday. A bad accident. Four people who worship Ayyappa died. One of the people who died was a kid. This made a lot of people in the pilgrim community very upset. This is a time when a lot of people usually go on a pilgrimage to worship Ayyappa it is called the Mandala-Makaravilakku season. The people who died were part of a group that was going on this pilgrimage. A lot of people, in fact lakhs of people go on this journey every year. They follow a special 41 day routine of worship which is called vratham and Ayyappa devotees were doing this when the accident happened to the Ayyappa devotees.
The police said that the accident happened early in the morning on a big road that goes across the country. A vehicle that had people going to pray in it crashed into a big vehicle. The crash was very bad. The vehicle that the people going to pray were, in was badly damaged. People who live nearby saw the accident happen. They quickly called for help. The police and the people who fight fires and the ambulance teams all came quickly to help the people who were hurt in the accident.
Rescue operations started away. The people who were helping used tools to get the passengers out of the wrecked vehicle. Sadly four people who were traveling including a kid died right there. Some other people got hurt badly. The people who were hurt were taken to hospitals that were close by both government and private ones. The doctors at these hospitals said that some of the injured people are still, in a bad state.
The accident probably happened because the driver could not see well he was going too fast and he was very tired. People in charge said that when you drive early in the morning in the winter it is very hard to see because of the fog and it is still pretty dark. The accident is still being looked at to see if the vehicle broke down or if the driver did not follow safety rules. The authorities are checking the vehicle to see what really happened to the accident and to the vehicle. The vehicle inspection is being done to find out more, about the accident.
People who were going to or coming from the Sabarimala pilgrimage route were the ones who got hurt. The Sabarimala pilgrimage route is a way to travel and it goes through many states. A kid. This has made everyone very sad. Families of the people who died are going to the hospitals to see the bodies and do what they need to do.
The people, in charge of the district went to see where the accident happened. To the hospitals. They wanted to see how the rescue work was going and make sure the people who got hurt were getting the help they needed on time. The government of the state said they would give money to the families of the people who died. They also said they would give medical treatment to the people who got hurt in the accident. The authorities told the people in charge of transport to make sure they were checking the vehicles that were taking pilgrims carefully.
The incident has shown us again that we need to think about how safe our roadsre when people are going on pilgrimages. This is the time when a lot of cars, buses and tempo travellers are on the road all the time. The police and transport departments, in the states are telling people again to not travel at night to make sure the drivers get enough rest and to check their vehicles carefully before they go on long trips. The police and transport departments want people to be safe when they are going on pilgrimages so they are reminding them to take care when they are using vehicles, buses and tempo travellers.
People who are in charge of organisations and planning pilgrimages are asking the people who believe in their faith to please think about safety too. They had prayers at a lot of temples for the people who died and people from all, around the area sent messages saying how sorry they are.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing. Authorities emphasized that strict action will be taken if negligence is established, while urging all pilgrims and transport operators to adhere strictly to traffic and safety regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future.
