The New Year holiday rush at bus stations and train stations all over India is getting better now. People are going back to work. Doing their daily things again. For a days it was really crowded at these places because of Christmas and New Year parties. Now the people in charge of transport say that not many people are travelling so it is easier for people to get around and it is a big help, for the officials too. The New Year holiday rush is really slowing down.
The holiday season is really busy. Railway stations in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai are filled with people. Lots of people are going to their hometowns and tourist places. You see long lines at the ticket counters and waiting halls are packed. The trains are fully booked too.
Bus stations that are run by the state and private companies are also very busy all day and night. This is especially true, for buses that go between cities and states.
People who work for Indian Railways said that the rush of people going home was at its highest on January 1. This is because a lot of people were going back after having a weekend for holidays. Indian Railways had some trains and they also added more coaches to the regular trains. This really helped to reduce the crowd of people at the stations. Now that most offices are open again the number of passengers is getting back, to normal. This means that the stations can now work like they usually do.
Bus operators in states saw that people were not taking the bus as much from January 2 onwards. They had put buses on popular routes for the holiday season but now they are taking them away because the number of passengers is back to normal. The transport corporations said that the busiest routes were the ones that go from cities to nearby towns and places people visit for religious reasons. The distance overnight bus services were fully booked during the holiday period. Bus operators are talking about the bus services. How the number of passengers has changed. The holiday season is over. The bus services are going back, to how they were before. Bus operators are looking at the routes. Seeing which ones were the busiest.
The rush is not as bad as it was. The authorities are still being very careful at train and bus stations. They have people checking security and managing the crowds. They also have help desks to make sure everyone can get where they need to go. The people in charge of the trains are telling travellers to check the train schedules a lot because the fog and cold weather are still causing some trains to be late, in some parts of North India.
People who came back from their holidays had things to say. Some people liked that there were trains and buses to take.. Other people said that the trains and buses were late and too full on the days when a lot of people were traveling. The people, in charge made a lot of announcements. Put up more signs and they also made it possible to buy tickets on their phones. This really helped to reduce confusion. Made it easier for people to get around the big train stations. People had a time at the train stations because of the holidays and the extra trains and buses.
The weather had an impact on how people travelled this year. There was a lot of fog in the north. That made the trains run slower. People also had to drive carefully on the highways. Because of this some people decided to wait a day or two before going home. Now that people can see clearly the buses and trains should be, on time again.
The people in charge of transport think that what happened during the holidays shows us that we need to plan and be able to change our schedules if we need to. They learned some things from dealing with all the people traveling for New Year. They will use those lessons when there are long weekends and festivals coming up and a lot of people will be traveling. The transport authorities will use these lessons to make things better for the holiday season and, for the New Year rush and other times when a lot of people are traveling like weekends and festival travel periods.
As the festive travel wave subsides, bus terminals and railway stations are transitioning back to routine operations. Officials remain optimistic that with continued monitoring and improved infrastructure, future holiday travel can be managed more efficiently, offering passengers a safer and smoother journey experience.
