Students over India are really upset and frustrated after the National Testing Agency cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 examination because of allegations that the paper was leaked. This sudden decision has left a lot of students who want to be doctors feeling very tired and sad. Many of them want the people in charge to take responsibility for what happened.
The NEET-UG examination is a deal because it is the way to get into medical school for undergraduate programs like MBBS, BDS and AYUSH courses. A lot of students over 25 lakh took the exam this week.. Then people started sharing the question papers and answer keys on social media and messaging apps, which caused a lot of controversy.
Because of all the pressure from students, parents and coaching institutes the National Testing Agency said they were cancelling the exam. They said they had proof that someone had cheated and that the exam was not fair. They also said they would have an exam schedule after talking to the Ministry of Education and the people investigating what happened.
This news was very upsetting for students who had been studying for years to take this exam. Many of them felt like they had wasted their time and that they were not motivated to study. Some students even went to protest outside coaching centers and exam offices in cities like Delhi, Patna, Kota, Lucknow and Jaipur.
In Delhi a lot of students were protesting near Shastri Bhawan. The police were there to keep everything under control. Students were talking to reporters. Asking how the exam papers could have been leaked when they were supposed to be secret. Some students wanted the people in charge to quit their jobs and others wanted an investigation to find out what really happened.
Parents were also worried about how this would affect their children. They said their kids had given up a lot to study for this exam. Now they were feeling anxious and unsure about what would happen next.
Experts think that this incident has made people lose trust in the exam system in India. They say that when there are allegations of cheating and leaks it makes students more stressed and unsure if the exams are fair.
Student organizations want the government to make sure that the next exam is safe and secure. They want things like attendance encrypted question papers and stricter background checks for the people in charge of the exam.
The Ministry of Education said they would investigate what happened and that anyone who was found guilty would be punished. They are working with cybercrime units and other agencies to find out who leaked the exam papers and how they did it.
Even though the government is saying they will do something about it students are still worried about when the next exam will be and if it will be fair. Many students have to start studying but they are feeling sad and stressed and they are afraid that there might be more delays.
The NEET-UG 2026 controversy has raised a lot of questions about how safe and secure the exam system’s in India. For a lot of students who want to be doctors this is not about an exam. It is, about their dreams and their future.
